Our second on-farm store lamb sale saw a good turnout of buyers with many repeat buyers following successful finishing of lambs purchased at last year’s sale.
Texel lambs were the pick of the trade, with a pen of 112 Texel crosses reared at Scotsburn selling for £63 a head, while a pen of 106 bred at Garty sold for £58 apiece.
Texels bred at Fearn sold to £56.50 for a pen of 156 Texel, Beltex and Aberfield cross lambs, while 157 Aberfield and Texel crosses from Nigg making £55.
Other breeds also sold well, with Suffolks from Fearn making up to £54.50 a head and Southdown crosses peaking at £55.50.
The sale resulted in a total clearance of all store lambs and an overall average of £49.22, with lambs being mainly long keep lambs.
We thank our buyers for their support once again and wish them well with their purchases.
